Bolt on handle
« on: March 27, 2018, 12:12:56 PM »
Had some time to kill today so went to my local dealer to look at the heat shield handles to figure out what I wanted to do to mount it on the warranty lid I'm getting tomorrow. This pic is from an unused just 'handled by customers' grill in the showroom. I think I'll settle on stock bolt and they had SS 1 1/4" fender washers and they also had 1/4-20 SS lock nuts with the built in star part for under the lid and high heat gasket for between the handle and the top of lid.

My guess... this is for the free 2015 dk. blue Performer warranty lid that Weber's sending you, for your newly acquired 2nd generation dk. blue Performer. Congrats!

I'm kind of curious if the '15 lid and '06 bowl color will match. Don't forget to post pics.

Well if they don't I'll be asking Weber for a bowl to go with the lid  ;D

@DynaGlide

How did you get them to warranty this?

I ended up getting this one. Owner was incredibly nice. Pictures are in my signature. He threw in a newer GBS grate, brand new charcoal grate, some gloves and Weber is sending me a brand new 2015 lid for free under warranty. It's a 2006 model. It cleaned up really well. My first Performer now I know why everyone likes theirs.

I was polite, and used my please and thank you's. Even got the thermometer included. .which they told me they charge extra for. And $20 knocked off the metal table. It all gets here today.

I knew Weber had a hell of a good warranty but I didnt know they'd extend it out 2 years over.

Yeah i wasn't so much of a Weber for life kind of person until this last week and my experiences with them. Might have to sell my BGE. . . Just kidding.

@RRRanger99 @Firemunkee

I used the Fel-Pro gasket to fit under the handle between the top, a 1 1/4" SS fender washer, and 1/4"-20 SS lock nuts to attach. This definitely isn't the most inspiring handle mounting but once you snug it up good it seems like it will be okay. Time will tell.

Color is a match, by the way.

Looks like the color matches perfectly. I have a 2nd generation dk. blue Performer just like yours. Now I know what an upgrade looks like. Got it! I'll just be polite and use my "please," and "thank you's, " to Weber CS.

Congrats on your nearly new 2nd/3rd generation Performer!

Looks great!   Good color match and the table with the SS panel and black frame looks like it was built by Weber that way.

What is the part # for the blue replacement lid?    May be able to help others knowing Weber has stock on this.
