Looks like a member of the "Weber Kettleheadz" group on Facebook has found a yellow SJ.  Got it for a great price, too!  He has not stated whether it's painted or the real deal yet...

Yes, if I'm not mistaken the vent on all of the offset SJs match whatever color the bowl/lid is.

Not only that, they don't say "Weber" on them anywhere (at least the ones with the earlier style legs than that yellow).  I stumbled across one NIB a couple years ago before finding this place & if it wasn't in the box, I would have probably thought it was a very good quality Weber wannabe.  Just stumbled across a second one with a different style leg this fall & found this club shortly thereafter.

After joining here & looking at the dating your kettle stuff, I realized I had run across one of the really old ones with the triangular pans, but didn't even walk over (maybe 20 ft) to look at it because I thought it was in too crummy of shape with someone rigging some sort of triangular pan at the bottom after losing the circular one.  If I'd walked over, I probably would have realized the triangular pan wasn't a homemade rigged item.  Based on where I saw it, it would have been mine for a song.

I found an offset red one on letgo back in the fall & messaged the guy several times with no response before realizing the post was from 2 years ago.  Always wondered if someone here had gotten it two years previously.

I had only recently started looking at them & didn't notice it at first.  Now, I look and see how old the listing there or Offerup is because both keep stale stuff around just because the person never marks it as sold, withdrawn or whatnot & doesn't even check their account no more.  I always found it funny how excited I got & then worried that someone else would find the listing before the guy got back to me when it was likely sold years ago.

Hal
