I picked up some 0000 steel wool and a stiff scrub brush today and started to work on a restoration. The first thing I tackled was the ash pan on my first Weber.
I have no idea how it got that bent up.
I worked on it a bit with a rubber mallet and piece of wood and made surprising progress. Then I started polishing. I need to get some coarser steel wool.
I set that aside and decided to go for some lower hanging fruit and chose the CGA since it was probably the least used of all of my grills.
Here it is as I acquired it.
I disassembled and scrubbed first with soap (Dawn) and water. Then the steel wool to get the stubborn stuff off the shell. I disassembled the bails and vent covers and polished them with steel wool, some nevr-dull and finally some nu finish. Here is the result.
OK, wasn't that bad to begin with, but it's nice to see some progress.
