Foot mod?

Just wondering if any of you have modified the foot. In my experience it's the weakest point in the whole Weber design.

The Webers I've used have a plastic shoe that wears off, always the first thing to fail on an otherwise long-lived product. When the bare leg end is on a hard surface, dragging it makes it hop. That stresses the welded leg socket.

Is there any popular fix for this? I'm wondering about something like the hard plastic skids you can get for walkers. BTW those things are WAY better than rubber feet or tennis balls.

Or maybe something metal like a big tack? Or some kind of caster?

This is an unpopular wheel mod.

You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

Unpopular? appears functional to me, I thought it was a grate idea when I saw it a while back besides it's your grill !!
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

That OP mod reminds me of the '70s .... Good times!

Here is something I have seen here on the 18"- 22" Compact kettles.

I think I found the Weber # for it..

I use these. They look great, not too gaudy. They are rubber so they grip pretty good and fit perfect. Cheap too-  8)

I've seen a champagne cork stuffed into the front leg before. It adds a little height, but if your front end's ridin' a little low, could be an easy fix.

I used the same thing, but I got a 2-pak of these from Home Depot for $2-3.

I use black rubber crutch tips on all my kettles.

I might try the crutch tips, I should easily be able to find them. What's the diameter of that leg tubing?

That angled Weber foot is what they should have sold them all with since forever.

But we (and they) couldn't jet over to Ace for a replacement if so.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

I don't expect to move it around very much. Right now it's on a patio slab under a roof so it's mostly out of the weather, and it's possible to run it (or my offset) under that roof. Or, I can roll it about ten feet to  another slab, out in the open behind the garage.

New leg tips cost basically nothing and I like the original look, so that's the route I go.

+1  Also, the caps for 1lb propane tank used on performers fit and look stock. Comes in both white and black to suit. When I scored 22" Brownie few months back, it came with a walking cane like rubber tip.  I threw it out and put original looking cap. Much better looking for me.
