Heat damaged porcelain? Kettle Pizza question.
« on: October 02, 2017, 11:11:37 PM »
Hey all, I'm new here and learning.  While watching one of the club vids on grilling tri-tips on a vintage lime grill, he was worried about using charcoal that would burn too hot and damage the porcelain.  I have been rehabbing my parents' 1972 avocado, and was thinking about adding a kettle pizza.  With such high heat, should I be concerned?  If so, I just found a 22" black kettle with wood handles on CL for $5. That should work.

Welcome from Georgetown KY
Glad you found your answer.
Don't let the Briquettes set directly against the side. I use baskets or slow n sear. Or put the coals in the middle depending on what I'm cooking.

Still I wouldn't use the cado with a kettle pizza. Your black one will be perfect.
