Today's cook with kettlebb
« on: September 16, 2017, 05:04:15 PM »
My kids and kettlebb's kids are like exactly the same age, so they came over for a pool party today. Needless to say, we were grilling.

Decided to smoke some pork shoulder. I was in a rush so I cut it to two 2# pieces. Then smoked it over lump for 3-3.5 hours with cherry wood chips.

I seasoned the meat with my normal mix (paprika, chili powder, onion powder, cumin, salt) but then hit it with some yellow mustard, and patted a good amount of brown sugar all around it.

I also made some grilled GF cornbread in my cast iron, oiled up with coconut oil. This added a hint of vanilla to the smell and taste. I forgot to take a pic, but it was tasty.

@Travis that is what @schaefd2 puts his wood chips in. The pork was phenomenal!

Yeah, they were moist wood chips before they started looking like lump. It is a habit I have since I started smoking in a gas cabinet smoker.
I did end up dumping them onto the coals periodically; hence why there's only a few chips in the pan in the pic.
