Yup.  Layer cake on the grill.  Went through an entire batch of batter that came out great but broke when I flipped it upside down.  The second batch got some parchment paper in the bottom of the 8.5x8.5 pan.  Cooked (baked) indirect at around 315-325 until it passed the toothpick test. Iced one cake then put the other one on top and iced it all up.  Waiting for Holly to get home to give you guys a pic of it cut up.  A fun day of figuring things out.

One of the cakes that broke when I Tried to flip it upside down.

Round 2 cake 1.  Parchment paper makes a difference.

Amazing can't wait to see the final result. Looks delicious and more proof you can do anything on the kettle that you can do in the oven.

Hell yeah! That's gangsta status right there! I've done pies before on a grill, but never a cake.

My wife says she wants to bake more in the summer...we're going to have to give this one a go!

Great thread! Thanks!

Here are some sliced pics.  It came out great.  Tasted like it came right out of the oven.

Nice, thanks for posting up your cook! I need to try baking on the kettle now.

The first batch that didn't work well was regular cake mix, the second batch was the kind with pudding mix in the cake mix.  Seemed to make a much flatter cake and it was really moist and delicious.
