what year range were 26's produced? I know they stopped for a while at some point

I have often wondered this too. I think Weber ceased production of the flat tops in the late 80's/early 90's?

The newer 26's started up again around 2008/2009 I believe.

Here's some info from an old post by our resident historian:

26" Kettles introduced in this order.

Black 1962-1999, 2008-present.

Westerner (Chestnut Coppertone) 1963-1968.

Red 1964-1980.

Copper Mist/Chocolate 1969-1980.

Something I'd like to know is regardless of the year, was every red 26" kettle called the "Aristocrat"?

Not according to the Kettle Model Number thread:

In 1978 the model numbers were updated from three digit models to a five digit model "series". Names like Statesman, Texan, Brave, & Gourmet were removed for the 1978 catalog year.
