Is it me or are those vent holes smaller?
I thought they looked small too, but I'm no expert. Does it maybe correspond with having the older style sweeps?

My neighbor just up the block was moving, and parked his Weber Spirit out at the curb next to a pile of junk a couple months back.  I figured it was a goner, but thought I could salvage some parts or maybe make a table out of it, so I wheeled it home.  The tank was empty and the battery was dead, but once I dealt with those two things it worked perfectly!  Cleaned it up and sold it to a very happy friend for $250.
It is strange what people throw away!

Nice rescue. I'm always checking the curbs on trash day.

So what's the deal with the new vs. old ash sweeps? Since this will need some... and handles... and grates... think i might gift this to my brother

I think your grill was one of the very first production OT grills made since it has 3WDs.

@LightningBoldtz Its probly an optical illusion caused by color of the ashes, on the under side you can see the vents go out to the outer edge of the sockets.
You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

Another one at the curb! The bowl on this one may have to go in the scrap pile but the lid is in better condition than the first...

At least some of it is salvageable.
