Hey guys, when you do a long cook on a 3 wheeler, lets say 7-10 hours plus (brisket, etc).. how do you handle the ash? Does the snake do reasonably well? I know with the ash sweep vents on the newer stuff it's probably easier to keep the vents clear. I'm thinking of attempting a brisket soon with my 77' 22".

I build my snake leaving 1 vent uncovered. Close the other 2. No ash to worry about. Run my 26er and 22 like that all the time. Works great.

Exactly what kneab said. For snake cooks, I keep the one vent at the end of the snake open. Works like a charm.

Thanks guys! I have never attempted a snake.. I didn't even realize you close off two vents entirely. It makes sense if the open part of the snake is over the one open vent.. then you don't care how much ash falls onto the other vents. I guess that also helps going lower/slower. A brisket is definitely one of my goals to try in the next upcoming weeks.
