@charred - Something really special about an unused 40+ year old kettle. Congratulations.@mcgolden - As long as the stains are not etched into the metal, they should polish right out. Multiple applications of Mothers Aluminum polish, buffing after each application should do the trick. Same thing applies to the vents. The best polish is Rolite Supra. It is a aircraft aluminum polish that @zavod44 turned me on to. It is really expensive but cuts down on the polishing time. http://www.pilotshop.com/catalog/cspages/rolitesupra90.php?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=09-42420&gclid=CjwKCAjw8IXMBRB8EiwAg9fgMFwRdVG3y3IEIkvNRum25c59KHA-p200gd5ia2kW7CJLLF_mJCTyORoC6VYQAvD_BwEIf there is heavy staining, grease or smoke buildup on the vents, hit them with #0000 steel wool. Use it in a circular motion. Then use the polish.
@charred glad you got it. I was next inline. Was hoping you were the person who showed up and got it. He received it for Christmas 2016 he told me.Congratulations
