Weber Charcoals in Europe
« on: August 04, 2017, 05:59:30 AM »
With all the talk over scoring a deal on Weber charcoal I thought..

Not sure if any other Weber charcoal is sold in the states so I thought I would let you see what is available here in The Netherlands.

L to R ..
Weber Coconut charcoal, Weber 2016 new type charcoal and Weber Long Lasting "white bag" charcoal.

Coconut was mostly sold at a building store here but is no longer in stock and not on the web site. Trendy coconut with bigger briquettes, stable temp but I have had problems with them going out by them selfs and junk in side the briquettes. Don't even think of trying a snake or low and slow with these! Crumbles apart easy after the first burn so 2-3 burn is gone fast.
New Weber charcoal .. I have 2 bags and did not get around to trying them.. you guys know how they work.
Weber white bag was for years the standard here, with super fine and smooth finish on the briquettes, long burn time with ash that is a little red in color. Very low smoke when starting, but a funny smell when you first start a new batch. Re using these produces no smell, only the first time. These also stay intact longer with out crumbling apart for the 2-3 burns.

Left is coconut, Top is white bag and Right is new Weber

Yes, very cool. I think many of us have only ever seen the new charcoal.

Do you have the Weber Lumpwood in the Netherlands? Here in the UK we've also had Steakhouse Lumpwood as well as their regular lumpwood. The Steakhouse gets very very hot. Has now been discontinued but I still have a few bags stored away.

Yeah we have lumpwood, kind of forgot about that. I personally don't use that much lump so I was not thinking about that also.
If I remember good we have standard Weber lump and Steak House lump.
Maybe I should try more lump this year? I know some members swear by it.

I use lump primarily for short cooks up to 45 minutes. Lights faster too.
