Ash Sweeper Replacement

Anyone have an easy way to remove a stubborn non-moving ash sweeper. In the past I have drilled them out. Looking for an easier way.

I haven't need to apply it to a grill, but when working with rusted/stuck car & truck parts the answer is penetrating oil and heat. I'd go that route before drilling.

Is it the old hex screw style? A Dremel cut off wheel or hack saw will do. Cut each end of the rod flush with the nut. Then it will fall right through the bowl.
