Rotisserie Question - 22" or 26"?

I've asked a similar question before, but it was more about gas vs. charcoal and whether the motors and spits were interchangeable.  I want a charcoal roti, so I have been on the lookout for a nice kettle to have full time rotisserie duty.  That's a thing for me.  I have a pizza kettle grill which is a one-trick pony.  I'd do a rotisserie the same way, so I'd want a dedicated grill.

Anyway, I got to thinking this morning that I have a 26" that I only use rarely for big cooks, or if I want to be able to smoke something and still cook on the performer.

So, from all that rambling, I'm asking for input from the community about whether I should get a roti for my 26" and use it primarily as a team or get a dedicated 22" and roti for that.  Realistically I don't plan to roti anything huge, so real estate wouldn't be my primary justification for going with the 26", but I also suppose it couldn't hurt.

Thanks to anyone who can decipher my garbled thoughts...

Price-wise, I'd go with a 22" Roti attachment.  You're likely to find a good CL deal on one, with or without a kettle. If you're planning to mod the kettle for rotisserie duty w/o using an attachment, I'd go 26". The extra space will allow more versatility for "cooking in the basement".

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

Roti ring does store nicely on the bottom shelf, so you wouldn't need a dedicated Roti kettle.

I have the 22" Weber rotisserie. #2290
The biggest turkey I've ever cooked on it was almost 23 lbs. Any bigger it might have rubbed the inside of the lid. I also have an 08 Genesis gasser that only required the purchase of a new spit and an extra bracket in order to use the rotisserie on that one. I think it was about $25 to adapt to the gasser.

Love the 26" roti.  23lb turkey with room to spare.  I've also got a 22 roti that rarely gets used.  I like the 26 because I can make a long oversized snake and hit 350 for 6-8 hrs.  I roti all my porky butts now with ease

Ugh.  Both look like perfectly reasonable options and I can talk myself into or out of either of these.  Sounds like a big turkey is an option with either with the storage advantage leaning slightly towards the 22.

I finished my 22" roti earlier today

I have a 22" rotisserie.  This past Thanksgiving, I spun a 25 lb turkey on it. No problem with fit or clearance.  It was perfectly balanced and the motor purred with no sign of straining.

Kemmons your a popular guy. Your inbox is full. I was going to ask you how you do your pork butts?  Can you get the spit in with bone in or do you buy boneless?  Do you tie them?  Right now I use aldi boneless butt that is packaged in a net and they are great but I wouldn't mind knowing the process for when I want to do a normal one.

@jaynik - If you decide on the 22", your timing could not be better.  Here is a place that is selling the Weber rotisserie (ring, spit and motor) right now for $99 with free shipping.  Normal price is $149.

Thanks @Cellar2ful .  Any experience with that seller?  I'm all about saving money, but also know that sometimes if it seems to good to be true, it is!

As for the feedback I've seen, seems that consensus is the 22 rotisserie is plenty adequate and I don't really need a dedicated kettle for it.  I'll still fight that temptation, but I can separate the two initiatives.  :-)

I have no first hand experience with Firecraft but they look to be a pretty large, family owned operation based in Pennsylvania. Their product line is extensive. I believe I have heard them mentioned before on the Forum.

I do have a couple of the Weber rotisseries. It is by far my favorite and most used accessory.
