Legs falling out

I found a 3 wheeler in the trash a few weeks ago and wanted to give it a whirl possibly this weekend. But every time i move the damn thing the front leg falls out and i end up looking like a stooge trying to get the triangle back in and the thing standing upright again. Is there a way you guys came up with to fix this?

I've used aluminum hvac tape with success, as well as teflon plumbers tape. Just enough wrap to make it snug into the socket.

Others have drilled holes and put in screws. I wouldn't mind adding a thumbscrew, ala vintage style - but it's beyond my capability.

There are lots of fixes for this one.  I personally prefer to use a broomstick/socket wrench/whatever you have in the approximate size of the leg.  Insert that into the leg and use it to reshape the leg from the inside.

Some other options:
-Wrap legs with Aluminum HVAC tape
-Wrap legs/shim legs with aluminum foil
-Shim leg sockets by sliding a small nail between the leg and socket
-Drill and add screws to the legs (my least favorite by far)

FYI The tape we are talking about is the foil faces tape, not gray duct tape. Gray tape may work but won't hold up to heat I assume.

Lol i figured that. I have some ductwork that was retrofitted into my 100+ year old house whenever furnaces replaced wood burners. Believe me... i am familiar with and have gone through plenty of foil tape.[emoji53]

i've done the tape and the broomstick, and the broomstick is the better option in my experience.

+1 on the broomstick or a socket on an extension works well. Multiple size options for finessing really bad ones.

On the wheel legs you can reverse sides to give them new life in the friction sockets.

I use soda cans , they are just about perfect to fill any gap that I have had

All you need to do, is stick something in the leg to open it up a bit. Use a broomstick. use pliers... use what ever... just expand the top of the leg a bit. It isn't that hard.
