Nice photo .  How do you know the Cado is a '69 ?  I just picked one up on friday.  I am trying to determine if mine is 68, 69 or 70.

Called Weber and was put in touch with a gentleman there. It is just a swag. No way of knowing for certain.  He told me the patent was filed for in November of 1968, and granted in November of 1970 (so there is a two year span). From his knowledge, they didn't get into the full swing of "Patent Pending" until Jan 1969.

Patent Pending kettles should be from '69-'70. Possibly late 1968 for the 1969 model year.... Patent numbered kettles should be from 1971-on. Harris I forget, how did you determine 1973 as the year of the redhead? It matches the 1971-1975 specs and cosmetic appearances, but was forgetting how you pinpointed the year? BTW, that is an awesome collection of cookers you got there. I'm diggin' that 'cado 22.

The seller's parents bought the Red in 1973 as newlyweds.  They used the grill for approximately two or three years.  His parents then went vegetarian and the grill basically sat in their storage for the next 36 years or so.

Thanks
