cleaning roti forks
« on: June 01, 2017, 12:22:31 PM »
Did my third roti cook yesterday, and while I love it I hate cleaning the forks. Anyone try throwing them in the dishwasher or will they rust?

I am using the two prong forks that came with my Roti. I just dump them into hot sudsy water to soak for a bit and they clean up quickly.

I put the forks in a large fast food drink cup with some Dawn, 1 hour later clean up is EZ.

Cleaning forks are EZ. It's cleaning the baskets that make me love forks.

What he said.. If I use baskets, I spray the heck out of them with non stick and after use, I soak them in dawn.
and then scrub with an SOS pad. Sometimes its not worth it.. 8)

@einrej Thanks for the tip. Never thought about using a drink cup. @robert-r I was thinking about getting a basket, now having second thoughts.

Couldn't you just lay them on a hot grate the next time you use it to cook off any thing remaining from your basket or forks? Kind of like you clean your grate.

I have non-Weber four-tine forks.  They get really greasy and smokey, but I just soak them in water, give them a quick scrub, and finish them off on the bottom rack of the dishwasher.  Shiny every time.

@mike.stavlund That was my plan. I had already soaked & scrubbed a pair before I started this thread. Just wanted to be sure they wouldn't rust in the machine. Thanks.

Washing anything in a dishwasher is harsher than washing by hand...thats why you see "dishwasher safe" care instructions.
Or .."safe to wash on upper rack dishwasher only" or " do not place in dishwasher".

If its zinc coated..i would wash by hand to prevent excessive wear of the zinc.

I personallt dont dishwash anything that is part of the grill bc the slime of grease and black mess will end up in the dishwasher and is not easy to clean up
