Has anyone used the Weber charcoal briquettes? If so what is your opinion of them.
TIA

Frales

Ok I used the search menu and found a couple threads. I bet they'll have to drop the price eventually then I might try them. Had no idea they were $20 bucks a bag.

I used a full bag. They are very good. But so are stubbs and Royal Oak and others. They burn hot and long like stubbs. Just to damn expensive.

I've been burning Stubbs and like them a lot. Unless they lower price I'll stay with Stubbs and not try them.

Mr. Hardstone

In my experience they're about the best briquette available over here, and if not the best available, definitely the best easily available.

I just used my sample bag and no complaints.  I haven't looked at the pricing though.

I snagged a sample bag at Home Depot this weekend, but haven't tried them yet.  They'll need to be TWICE as good as Stubbs to make me pay that much, though.  Crazy expensive.

I tried my sample my sample bag tonight, they are very good but I won't spend $20.00 a bag for them. Looks like I will stay with Stubbs.

Mr. Hardstone

A lot of mention of pricing so here's an interesting point. A 3kg bag is £6.99 here (about $9) while a bag of generic brand briquettes are typically £5 (about $6) for a 5kg bag. ANYTHING Weber is waaay more expensive over here so the briquettes are actually not bad comparatively, and very much in line price-wise for what I'd expect.

I'm personally happy to pay a few quid more for a slightly smaller bag of a much better product.

I really like the  Weber briquettes .. got the sample pack from them and used it already 3 times for steak, burgers & sausages the past 3 days .. still have leftover briquettes for another cook and the ash leftover is much less compared to Stubbs.

Thanks for the replies. Must be a good product.
