What are the differences between the 7409 and 7444 ash buckets?  I remember seeing this info here, but cannot find it. How do I identify which ash bucket is which?

Thanks.

@ClubChapin

As far as I know, the older 7409 ones will have the steel strap cross piece that works with the sweep mechanism to hold the bucket in...

The 7444 ones, the bucket is held by clipping into the inside of the leg sockets & the sweeps ride independently of the system.....

I've only had a few of the MasterTouch / bucket type affairs around & the only new one went to our daughter's so no way to check, but I think that's accurate....?

Thanks.  I'm actually asking about the bucket, not the ash ring.  I'm well versed on the ash ring.

i thought on the buckets, one had the handle mount lower than on the other.

I think the newer buckets the handle is like a spring and it snaps into the ring. The old ones you lift and rotate in and out of place. I like the old style better.

Thanks.  I mean the two generations before the new one.  I think there are 2 types of "Lift and Rotate" buckets, one that came with the 7409 sweeps and one that came with the "H" style sweeper.

@ClubChapin   Check the Performer History page and scroll. I think that's where the info is. There is a difference in the height of the buckets.

Wrong! Sorry. I can't find the page with the side-by-side comparison pics of the buckets.

I can't give you any details about when it changed, but there are definitely two versions.  I added a "lift and turn" style bucket from a performer with an H bracket along with a newer ash ring that mounts to the leg sockets.  I needed to trim about 1/4" of the top lip of the bucket so that it would not interfere with the leg mounts.

That's what I was looking for, but could not search and find it.

That's it, thanks.  For the life of me, I could not find that.

We should update that post to include the excellent @swamprb ashring mod here.  It may be nicest and least destructive and undetectable.
