I just want to take a minute to say thanks for the responses and encouragement. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience in this club and I really appreciate it.

I think for now I am going to clean this baby up the best I can for the holiday weekend. I'll break it down and repaint and really get down to the nitty gritty this summer.

I do want to get new handles for this and my small army of blackies.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I may be able to get a black ash pan for this rig? I've seen it on a few red performers and love the look.

Thanks again.

Bumping this one. Does anyone know where I can get a black ash pan? Or would grill paint be the way to go?

i just used automotive trim black on mine, just on the outside, and just enough to cover. The beauty of trim black is it dries fast, it's hard to see imperfections with the low sheen and it blends in well, so if you gotta freshen it up a bit just bust out the rattle can and give her a new coat. It's only been a few days so i don't really know how it will hold up but it looks pretty.
This is what i used
