This is the first GQ I scored a few months ago.
It came in "ok" condition, but without the bracket.  Both grates were inside, here's a look at the charcoal grate and the piece that holds it in place.
Unfortunately the handle was barely clinging on for dear life.  I needed a welder, ASAP.One of the nuts fought me pretty hard and had to be soaked in liquid-wrench for several days.  It eventually came loose but I was super careful.
Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish is my friend.
I had the handle strap spot welded, which led to a series of other projects I'll unveil in the future.

I'm slowly migrating the rarer grills towards my home office... first step is acclimating the wife to grills in the patio.  . "Um... no honey, it's a hat rack."

Thanks for looking.

Fantastic job on the restore! I'm surprised Weber didn't think of the ash bowl (precursor to the OTG/OKP) when the regular SJ vent was redesigned in 1982-present.
