Hook inside the lid.
« on: May 06, 2017, 04:15:44 PM »
Is it just me or could the hook inside the lid be a little longer ? The hook inside my old 2001 18" is way longer and has a much better bite than my 2016 22" crimson. Is it this way on all the newer kettles?

Mine are the same way. Some longer than others. I stopped hanging them for that reason. That's exactly how rim rash happens.

I have bent a lid hook in the past for my UDS build. Don't like the way the porcline sounds when you bent it. Makes me feel like I'm really messing things up....lol

I did not even realize diff.  Looking at the pics, looks like one is bent more than the other.

I don't like hanging lids either. I use a dedicated lid holder/table kettle to set the lid on.

I do the same thing.  Have heard too many sad stories of lids bouncing around the patio.

the hooks on both my limes are too short. When they're holding on, they only have about a half inch of grip.

Someone should create a mod to fix this issue.

Well, I bent it more to my liking.  Not happy with the popped porcline,  but a couple low and slow cooks outta season it so it won't rust. [emoji47]
