I fabbed one from a bleach bottle.

Brilliant!  I have an ash shovel but I am going to make a bleach bottle one to travel with.  I always worry I am going to leave my shovel at a vacation rental.

This is my solution to taking coals out of the bag. Mostly I lift and pour, but when I want to scoop....I just use my garden gloves that are pinned to the bag. Clean hands!

As far as ash, I use the cleaning blades and then a burger spatula to scrape down the inside of my kettle and then use a small paint brush to clear anything that the blades miss.  I keep a nice clean kettle

I bought mine in 2015 and it is the best way of cleaning out my 3 wheelers.

If you can find one BUY IT!  The Weber 7471 Ash Shovel has been discontinued.

It's been discontinued?  Damn.  I bought one last year or maybe in late 2015 because I was getting annoyed with overturning the base of my WSM and dumping the ashes out that way.  I'll have to see if the place near me still has any in stock and buy one or two to set aside.

Secondly, what's the deal with Weber creating then discontinuing accessories?
