Jumbo Joe Question
« on: April 04, 2017, 08:46:36 AM »
Can anyone tell me if a compact chimney starter will fit between the two grates, on it's side for travel?

I've only got an older style model to check against.  Do you have the compact chimney already?
Maybe someone could measure the distance between the 2 grates for you.  I know its less than the old JJ.

Yes, I have a compact. A measurement between the two grates would do the trick. Thanks!

To answer your question  no a compact chimney starter will not fit between the grates on it's side.

Can you drop the cooking grate in at an angle and put the chimney on the cooking grate on the low side?  Not sure if that makes sense.

Josh G, if you are asking about the jumbo joe there's an upper and lower lip on the inside that both grates rest on, similar to a manhole cover so that cant be done.

OK so no tabs on these.  That makes sense.
