Craig answered the OK=Original Kettle, OKP=Original Kettle Premium question.
For me the thermometer spoils the vintage look and leaves a hole in the lid if you don't want it.
I'm ok with the new handle now because I can mod it to look vintage, and since my 18 I've gotten used to the crosswise turn. But $199 plus tax, freight and then shipping if you don't live close to an Alliance dealer is holding color hostage. One might ask "where are the charcoal baskets, the gourmet grates, and the lid bail?" you get for $199 plus tax with the black Master Touch. You are giving up a lot for that special color. Oh, well it is what it is. I could have ordered a MT from Canada for $275, but chose to buy a OKP copper for $161 and swap parts with my black MT because I really wanted a copper. I still wish I had fell in love with the kettles back when I could have got a new Target Copper. I also missed the good deals on the UK 18 color Kettles darn it(even at $150). With Original Kettles you could do anything you want. Perfect for Mods. Mod the handle and add a twist ash pan= close as most can get to a new vintage kettle look.

This one does have a lid bale.  I could take or leave the gourmet grate and have plenty of charcoal baskets.  It's not far off from the recent MT.

Latest from one of the local Alliance Dealers here on Long Island, NY...

QuoteHey Chris,

so I got some info on the Grills,  They will not be available until October unfortunately.  We will have them on order when they become available and as a alliance dealer we do get first dibs to order items like this. This was only introduced to weber higher ups last week  so someone leaked it. lol.

We will be bringing them in though and hopefully when released ill definitely put your name on it.  No need to preorder.

Thanks and have a great day.

Is there a dealer in Canada that's lets you order the Canada colors and ships to the USA?

Yeah, I may get one. It's a raw deal but we're a captive audience. I will figure out something to do with the hole in the lid. Maybe see how accurate a long stem Tru tell would be, and mod a push aside chrome cover for the hole. If it worked I could easily check different spots at grate level. I apologize to all and Weber for my rant. That bowl handle looks a lot like a thru-the-bowl bolt on plastic composite type. That would be the next step to no welded handles. Bet they get a lot of damaged ones from their pack.

I called Weber and had them look my zip code up. No Alliance dealers near me. The garden center in town sells Weber so I asked the manager to call them and ask about ordering this grill for me. Left my contact info, probably a no go for me.

Looking for: Red MBH 26"(The Aristocrat), Chestnut-coppertone (The Estate), Glen-blue (The Imperial), and The Plainsman.

I'm glad they are making a red but it would be cool if they would make it in the ots. I like the simple kettles.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they made a red bolt on handle in the old shape and slapped a couple wood handles on either

Weber was very little help for me as well.  Woman I spoke with said she could not find any Alliance dealers near me.  I asked her if there were any near San Francisco and she was having a very tough time.  Figure I will just wait and see what happens.

Maybe you can run your probes through the hole in the lid.  Please don't even mention bolt on bowl handles.  That would do it for me.  It's one thing in the lid, but I could not deal with a bolt on handle on the bowl.

My local non-alliance dealer is getting them.
Still need a 22" yellow

So I just got the call back from my garden center which carries the new Weber Genesis. According to his supplier the new limited edition is so new that their company "doesn't have access to it". I'm not too bummed. Personally I'd rather have an old red MBH than this one so it's all good to me. Good luck fellas.

I find this thread humorous and fun

Give em what they've been begging for relentlessly and then listen to them complain, LOL.
