Well said ? Everyone has there opinion, my bowl has a lot of under spray not close to matching the lid looks like they ran out of porcelain, so yes iam critizing/ beefing and what ever else .it is what it is yes mine will be going back to the store. Don't mean to bash but it crappy quality.

Craig, I am sorry that the one you got (and others here) is not up to the standards that we have come to expect from Weber. Having said that, are you going to exchange it? Like I said, my first one (lower serial number) had more under spray near the One Touch holes and my second one does not. Now I didn't think to look at the sockets on kettle number 1 so that may very well had been an issue. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and believe me, I was beyond pissed off and disappointed when I saw the damage to my lid and the fact that both lid and bowl were out of round severely. Weber is sending a rep next week to the house to pick it up. I don't even have to send it back myself. This being my first major issue with Weber, I'm impressed with the way they are handling my situation. All I'm saying is let's not let this grill cause any friction within the community. I have to believe that it is an early (and major) production issue that Weber will right in good time. I'm not bashing anyone for being upset, just felt as though that some of what is being said in the thread and on social media is splitting hairs and nitpicking but then again, we are their biggest supporters as well as critics when necessary. Keep us posted if whether or not you decide to swap it out.

BTW, there is footage of me attempting to do an unboxing video of my first grill and when I saw the missing porcelain/chip and out of round I got so pissed that I literally had to stop the video because I was beside myself. I might still have it.... so I do feel everyone's pain and frustration.

This is just really disappointing.  I have beaten the drum long and hard for Weber for many years.  I've talked several strangers out of other grills in HD, Lowe's, etc...  I have converted most everyone I know to Webers and have always trumpeted their customer service as one of the main reasons to buy from them.

After yesterday, I will no longer do that.  I called in my problem and asked them to register my grill since the website was not updated yet.   I got the third degree when I called it in and was called back by Weber a total of 6 times requesting additional information.  I asked if I could expect the bowl to be replaced since there is bare metal inside and under each leg socket, around the handle, and around the lower square hole for the lid bale assy.  I was told they would evaluate the information I provided and make a decision within a few days.

My frustration started when the CSR had no idea what grill I was talking about and argued with me about whether or not they are currently producing red kettles.  I won't lay out the rest of the call but I hung up feeling like I had done something wrong.  That feeling quickly turned into anger.  I have done nothing more than pay them $200 bucks for a product that is unacceptable.

I am a Quality Manager for a custom metal manufacturing company, If I handled our customers like that I would no longer have a job.

As of this morning, I have no answer and the CSR failed to register my grill.

I am trying to decide if I should shove this problem in Amazon's lap by returning the grill to them and letting them battle it out with Weber.

Had to take better pics for weber today, my poor quality photos made it appear that there was black paint inside the sockets. There is bare metal.

Are you going to take it back?
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Had to recheck for the problem spots and mine is in damn good shape. Guess I lucked out on that one. Does anyone know if weber has plans to put out any limited edition aprons, gloves, tools, etc  all in red of course.

Waiting on response from Weber. Cs rep said they are not using the same warranty process due to them being limited editions. This is the second kettle I bought, it was going to be a Christmas present for my brother.

Sorry Weber but this isn't going to cut it...

If you sell a limited edition kettle specifically targeted to Weber enthusiasts, plus charge a premium over a standard kettle, they need to make this right for people with porcelain issues.

There is a difference between a bit of overspray and huge runs that could possibly effect your blade sweeps and temp control. We've seen countless examples and these things just dropped last week. Somethings not right and Weber needs to step up to the plate or they risk tarnishing the views of some of their most loyal fans.

We just got our redhead in yesterday.  We got lucky.  Enamel isn't perfect, but really good overall and NOTHING I'd call a deal breaker and no bare metal.  My one criticism so far is that the lid bale holds the lid too high.  I prefer the bale on my 2016 Performer.

Put mine together today and I've got to say I'm pretty happy with it. 🤞 I checked it out pretty well, and while not perfect, I think it looks really nice. Should make a sweet cooker. Pimped it out a bit with some old style wheels. I think it'll need some Zav handles soon.

Grillagin

I just headed off the mailman a few hours before he was due at my house with my grill.  It looks like I got one of the good ones.  No bare metal or any other flaws worth complaining about.

I'll have to admit, I'm slightly jealous.  I really want(ed) this grill.

Performer bales are different. If the used the same bale the kettle could become unstable.

Nah, while technically you are right, I don't think it would be a problem unless your in really high wind.

Complete speculation on my part though.

Yeah I get why they did it, but for me their solution isn't ideal.
