RRR......MOD? (pic and word heavy)
« on: March 10, 2017, 08:05:55 PM »
so I was able to pick up a preformer today

never really noticed how awesome these things were.

it came with the hinged cooking grate, the charcoal baskets, and he threw in a chimney. probably gonna cut the chimney in half and use it as a poortex. not to mention a cover! although.... I'm pretty sure by how the cover looks that it was left outside with the cover underneath.

it's missing the igniter but that's not a big deal may not use the propane system ( will get to why in a few)

I picked up a 'Cado from my grandma's the other day she turned it into a flower pot after a leg socket rusted off

un dug it and it turned out to be in really good shape for where it's been for 2+ years.

that was the RRR, now for the Mod

plan is to take the black kettle off of the performer and attach the 'Cado to it using as many of the parts from the performer to modify the multi purposed avocado to fit the cart. this is why I'm not sure if I'm going to reuse the propane lighter system, maybe, I donno yet. other ideas rolling around but can't divulge all the idea just yet will just have to wait and see [emoji41]

I'd be up to take that propane regulator off you hands. 8) Although you could always add the gas assist to the cado per: http://weberkettleclub.com/blog/2014/04/25/weber-grill-mod-adding-gas-assist/

Dude, I'd totally add the gas assist like in the link Gummi posted.
You're already gonna have to drill into the kettle to add the brackets to put into the frame, and you'll find the gas assist to be really awesome.
Also, throw on the metal table upgrade and you'll have a real awesome super custom grill!
Can't wait to see what happens here

I don't know. I would have to have a one touch system on a performer If I planned on using it regularly. Would be tempting to just put the cado lid on the black bowl, fix the gas assist and call it a day with a full function performer.

This, with a metal table upgrade would be nice. One thought- I really like the gas assist but if it was going to cost me over $50 to put it in I'd just use Weber lighting paraffin cubes. Especially when you can sometimes load up with them on sale.

I agree with captjoe here. Gas assist is nice but we can all do without it.
