Has anyone tried to replace the old push button ignitor with the new electronic style on a gen 2 or up Performer?  I would like to, but not sure if the mounting holes or location would need modification.

Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

just looked at a picture of each part. seems like all you would need to do is open up the old push button hole to accommodate the new larger switch and then add a bracket to it. the door may not close right to cover the switch though

1 and 2 Gen have the push button and 3 gen has the battery inside electronic button. They are all interchangeable on any gen.  If you want the electronic one on your 1 or 2 Gen, all you need to do is open up the hole to accommodate a newer button as mentioned.  Personally, they are covered up so why bother.  I would just get the same replacement as they both work great.

Weed burner. :-)

I'm thinking about a 50,000 amp transformer like this to light the coals. Check out the 5:13 mark

Easy

I have the new style ignitor on Mt Genny and the older style on my performer.
The new style gives me fits the older style never fails.
The older style is so much better no batteries, no mositure problems. Just push and bam, fire.
