Help ID an old Red
« on: April 07, 2013, 08:16:31 PM »

My buddy took this pic yesterday at a party he was at.  This is all I have.  He has a good chance at picking this up.  Any help at all would be cool......... Thanks

Anyone else cringe seeing that baby gate on top of the lid?  ACK!

The last redhead I got, the guy apologized for having some leftover coals/ash inside still. Before I could say anything he flipped it upside down by the legs and started to bang it on the ground. It took everything in me not to choke him out. Thankfully there was no damage as I quickly asked him to stop.

The wood is missing from the handles but it's supposed to be there. I just got a OTS brownie with vent code G the other day. That's 1985. I'm thinking this redhead is around that same time frame. My brownie has the same twist on rolled rim ash pan too.

What would you have done if he knocked a bunch of the porcelain off? Would you have still taken it? I wish I could have seen your face when he starting banging it on the ground.

if all is original, it's anywhere from an '81 to an '85.

If your buddy needs fresh handles I can help him  :)  I have a 1985 and it is all original and it has the same ash pan.. I agree it's from the mid 80's.  It's very nice too....

Found out it's at his Sister-Inlaws house might be a freebee.  I told him to check under that tarp also.  You never know.  Will let you know about the handles.....Thanks
