Now get in there and finish the legs!   :-)

Excellent rescue effort for sure, congrats!
I only use kettles with lid bales.

Well, I tried to do my first cook on her  Wednesday night.  All was going well until I tried lifting the lid.  Turns out the last guy's attempted fix on the handle with JB weld didn't work.  The handle came clean off and I had two gaping lid holes.  So I fixed them today.  The 1978 green mbh is now officially a cooker not a looker!

The cook before the unfortunate incident:

Man it looks like it could be a cooker still! Nice fix by the way

Looking good!  At least it did not come off on you while lifting off the bowl and dropped on the ground.  You would be posting here if it happened. http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/dropped-a-lid/

Looks way better than it did before, nice fix!

That JB weld never works, you did what you had to do and I think it's great.  Looks good and I would not hesitate to cook on it....

Nice work on the repair. One sweet looking green! Cook on her and enjoy for years to come!

crowderjd

@Craig thank you.  I am super glad I didn't end up trading this with you...I would have felt terrible if this would have happened to someone else.  As it is, I'm really happy with how it looks.  I used some dark green grill paint on the fender washers, and it matches fairly well with the kettle.  The machine screws and washers are really tight.  She's got a long, happy life ahead of her now.

Love it! Grate job on the repair!
Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.
