Ribs smoked on mulberry
« on: March 13, 2017, 02:53:21 PM »
My brother has a pile of seasoned mulberry so I thought I'd give it a shot. It was great. Can't say it imparted an unfamiliar flavor. I would say it's similar to applewood.

I did hot and fast for 2 hours cooking between 400-450. I used weber rub and Montgomery inn sauce on 2 racks and used weber kickin chicken and my homemade jalapeņo honey mustard on the other one. Jalapeņo honey mustard was by far my favorite. I combined yellow mustard, gfs jalapeņo slices (important, there is no substitute), a little white vinegar, honey, and a pinch of rub in a food processor.

I agree. That was a bad comparison.  I can't really describe what it's like.  I do really like it and will be able to get it easily. I was paying $20 a bag for applewood. That had to change lol.

It's good stuff. People around here don't seem to know about using it. I'll try and keep a lid on it and take all the mulberry I can. [emoji3]

No. I never remove membrane. I like it and I think they turn out juicier and better with. I do score it.
