Yep, that's a new door for a WSM. I keep saying I'm going to get one of these for my 14. Congrats man.

Congrats on the new door. I have seen mixed reviews on them, but it was a game changer for me. Since adding the door, my 18 WSM is as close to set it and for get it as I could hope.

Exactly this!!  If your on the fence, get one. At least for an 18" which is the only size I have experience with.

Imo the CB door is a neccessity for the 22.5" wsm. That door is so large and flimsy that it's hard to properly shape it to for a good seal, and to bring the temperature down to 225F. You can usually bend the 18.5" door enough to get a good seal.

Exactly what pbe said. You can spend $20 on a gasket and use that flimsy old door, or spend a few extra bucks and get a superior piece of stainless steel that seals it up perfectly. It also looks like it belongs on there. Something Weber shield have done from the beginning.

I got my wsm used and it's the older style. My knob latch was screwed up and very loose, so for me the new cb door and latch was a no brainer. However, I think the thicker metal also contributes to efficiency and even temps so I would still probably get one if I had a brand new stock door.  I see why the guys with 22's like the cb door. That door looks HUGE and to have a piece of metal a little thicker than a piece of tin foil has to waste a lot of heat.
