After multiple tries to free up the bottom vents I was almost ready to give up. A big thank you to Matt (SixZeroFour). Your write up was a success. After multiple cleanings I used your method of using a load of charcoal for the heat. It worked like a charm.

I almost tossed my first kettle a couple years ago because I couldn't get the vents loose.
Looking for colored 18's and SJ's.

Heat using charcoal is always a fool proof way. Glad it worked out for you.

I had a good luck by just spraying some penetrating oil before cleaning the bowl with soap and water and spraying water in between the stuck vents after to free them up.
