I recently picked up a Weber Performer and the top lid of the kettle is pressed down as if someone was standing on the handle. It bent the lid handle down. the handle itself is fine but the dome part of the lid top where the handle is. It is pressed downward. How could I roll the bent part back to place. I tried pulling the handle upwards to pull the dent out but I'm afraid I'm going to break the welds if I pull to hard.
Any advise will help. I'll post pics of it when I get home from work

I remember seeing a trick using some coals in the lid then a bowling ball to roll the dent out while the lid is warm.... anyone else remember that post and have a link?

I don't remember the bowling ball thread. That may have been before me, but the rubber mallet from the inside works, I know.

Hell Fire Grill

Put it on something flat & level...

Then spray some automotive starting fluid under the lid...

Start the video camera...

Throw some lit matches in that general direction...
You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

Had same issue with my Performer. I just pressed from the inside of the lid and it popped back into place. It crazed the porcelain though. Reason why I painted the lid.

I didn't have a bowling ball, but don't tell my wife I used her weighted yoga ball to push and roll out a couple dented lids.

just sayin'

It worked with the mallet. Just now the weld is a little broken! Job weld application?
