Shims in the leg sockets

So as many know, i am resto-modding a 26er I received from @Cellar2ful. My question though is what shims (if any) do you use when the legs are wobbling more than a drunkin college frat boy? I drilled holes in the leg sockets and installed thumb screws and even tried cutting a soda can, but its still really wobbly. Thanks all for the help.

Foil tape. My modern 26 has been wobbly from day one. I still haven't done anything about it. Might do the foil tape myself.

I use 3M High Temp Flu tape.  It is aluminum with a tape backing rated to 600 degrees. Most hardware stores carry it. I have used it many times on loose legs. Just cut small strips and wrap it around the area of the leg that slides into the socket.  I think it will take a couple of wraps on ZZ because I remember those sockets and legs were really wobbly.  I hated when I had to move that thing because at least one leg would always fall out. Then trying to put that leg back in, both the other legs would fall out.  It was probably quite comical to watch if someone had been watching me.

On the legs or on the leg sockets? I never thought of that actually.

You can try widening the legs by placing a needle nose pliers into the end of the leg socket.  Then pull them open.  Repeat the process while rotating the placement of the pliers inside the legs. Sometimes that will help round them out and widen the ends of the legs.

in the legs, give a little pressure as you twist the broomstick around inside of the leg

Widen the leg socket with a taper rod or socket and hammer it to get correct width

Thanks @Bertl, that is actually genius. Also thanks to everyone else, I wound up using the tape to secure them and get rid of the shimmy.
