Removing Seized Legs
« on: October 21, 2014, 07:32:34 AM »
Anybody have tips on removing legs rusted to the sockets? I rescued a 1976-77 MBH faded black 22.5 last weekend but I cannot get the legs off. I have been spraying with liquid wrench for two days and they still will not budge.

PB Blaster is another good product. Seems to penetrate better.

Give the legs a tap on the end with a hammer every now and then while soaking. You can also wrap rags around each socket so that it soaks in a little better overnight. They will come free eventually!

Heat will also help if you have a small torch - only heat the socket portion not the leg and I would give it at least a few days and use it as a last option. GL!
