Finally found my Simpson grill, new in box original never removed from box. Box has slight water damage to bottom of box. Grill is compete and never removed.

That's interesting because from the reading I've been doing about this grill they didn't ship with the flip up grates but it looks like yours did.

At captjoe06 in looking at amazon the picture displays a flip up grill grate. Do you have a document or website stating about the solid grill grate? That is interesting. I'll post pic where u can see in amazon the flip up grate

Hope the one I'm getting has one.  The ones I've viewed on other sites after doing a google image search was what led me to believe they didn't.  Sweet! 
Maybe the sellers of the other Craigslist ones swapped them out before selling.
