I really enjoy my mbh. It's a different cooking experience.

I'm not even a Simpson's guy.  For $60 it's just hard to pass up and will be fun to cook on down the dock.  A sudden dilemma has come up.  A Black MBH has shown up and I don't think I have enough time to grab both on my one day off on Saturday.  I've already committed to the Simpson's.  Do I really need the MBH?  Are they really that special compared to the newer kettles?

I'd go for Simpson kettle first. Contrary to what I said, I love to have one of these. I still think it would look nicer with wooden handles and ash pan. Maybe not touch the Simpson logo on the lid. That MBH is nice too, but you will get more chances to get one later.

Good for you! Bet you would be surprised at what that Simpson's  kettle would fetch on Ebay.

The plan is to keep it but I'm thinking I'd never lose money on the deal.

You should get them both!  The old daisy wheel kettles are fantastic for smoking.  However, you just can't beat a One Touch with the ash bucket.  Recently my favorite kettle to cook on has been the 79 A code redhead, but the ash buildup is a minor hassle.
