Very cool.  I was just given a hand-me-down Big Steel Keg from a friend that I need to try out.  Same concept as this, but the BSK rusts out over time.  The solid aluminum is definitely the answer.

For $2000 I would opt to build myself an outdoor shack / shed with a chimney so I could run my kettles inside (in the winter). Probably have enough leftover for an extension cord and a beer fridge.

I've been day dreaming about seriously making something like that. It would be like an insulated cooker you can hang out in. Lol.

@Travis, I like the new name, "Cook Shack"! We are ready for the cold weather! On deck this year will be the blue SSP. The rum bar is stocked and a keg is sitting ready for tapping.

Right on rumbar, that's awesome.  Is that a kitchen hood over the kettle area or just a static vent.  Is that a back porch or a separate structure.  Just what I had in mind. I was thinking something a little more rustic (read simple and cheap)

@HoosierKettle, it's a 36" kitchen hood rated at 950 cfm. It struggles to keep up once in a while but mostly works really well. It's mounted in our 3 season room which is just an old porch I had added windows to. It's like being in an old bar, it looks much better at night with neon on. Redneckery at it's finest as I like to say, but it allows me to BBQ all winter long.

@RumBar I  did something similar minus the vent hood.  Just build a roof over my deck so I can stay dry during the winter.  It rains a bit here in Oregon and I don't like to stop grilling because of the weather.

Love the hood idea.  Nice setup.
