Winter storage question
« on: October 31, 2016, 10:49:07 AM »
Hey guys.
Being this is my first year with the club, I was wondering what some of you guys do about winter storage with your kettles.
I understand that some grillfella's have no need to store, but even so how do you store "lookers"?
This will be the first year I've ever brought kettles inside. Before joining this site I had 2 kettles so I just left them out, covered, but as I've started collecting a few, I've decided to bring in all but 2 daily cookers.
Let's see some of your storage solutions!

My grill pad looking bare.

Have a good one fella's!

You can see the ash silhouettes on the bricks where the kettles use to be. Looks as though they were vaporized by aliens Travis.

Yeah Jim, I thought was kind of neat. I think the patio needs a wash.

All of mine and I mean ALL of mine live in the garage or shed.  Just ask @Bob BQ he has seen my Hoard... heh
Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...

Move to AZ!  I did actually have frost on my grills last winter 2 or 3 times.  Wasn't even enough frost to stick and show up on anything else, just my grill lids.  I can't wait for cooler weather to get here to I can start smoking cheese again.  Think I am down to my last block from last winter.

Dude, smoked cheese?
That's sounds awesome. I'd like to try some of that.

My car is permanently out now Travis. I keep them all in my garage now and cover to keep dust off. I left my 3rd gen performer out all winter and this year had to replace the regulator. Not sure if the cold weather was to blame but I'd rather just keep them in. Would love to move to Arizona or Texas.

I leave them out and covered. Winter isn't usually all that intense, in southern MO. That and my 89' red is the cream of my crop.
Still need a 22” yellow

Yes Sir. Just put a cover on them, if it's that important. Otherwise don't worry. I've had a Weber sitting outside for 10+ years. It doesn't look any worse.

My 26 and 22 have been sitting uncovered for years. Only recently have I been taking care of them. My 78 red head stays covered and I will not let it get wet but it's staying outside.
