That's a beautiful damn fargin' sight. It's not overkill man, any of us would have done the same. Looks like fun. Make a cover and call that corner of the deck home for the damn thing. Carve your name into it while at it as well.
"Why do you have so many bbq's?"....."I just like lookin' at em' sometimes....and I have enough purses and shoes"

I used a bag of Kingsford Blue (16.5) for the 16 hours. One bottom vent opened 1/4
The other 2 closed , top vent 1/2 open.. gotta be careful with the vents.. i had it runaway
And got to 800 in about 15 mins...

Would you call this technique a giant minion method? Did you simply spread the full bag on 1/2 of the ranch and just let it go? How many lit charcoals did you start with?

Yes big minion method. Took two starter cubes
And lit them on either end.. 4 chunks of apple wood
And let it rip...

Nice.  there's a bit of a learning curve with an RK.   I've gone to running 3x3x2 snakes on both sides of the bowl.  Run one from about 1 to 4 o'clock, the other from 7 to 11.   Light both, put the meat in the middle and adjust vents as necessary.

@demosthenes9 How long does this run?

Wish I had an accurate answer for you JDD.   I ran this setup for 8 racks of spare ribs that ended up going about 6 hours, but still had some length left on each snake.
