Today's Find
« on: October 06, 2016, 01:36:49 PM »
There's hardly ever (like this is the second one I've seen in the past two years) Weber kettles for sale locally in Mexico MO.

This was on a Facebook Swap Shop post last night. After driving about 10 blocks and "Swapping" for a $20 bill, she came home with me this afternoon.

I believe it's a 1978 model based on the embossed Weber logo and no date code. All the vents are intact. No grilling grate, poor condition charcoal grate, and it looks like they spray painted it some time ago. But a little trial with some steel wool and elbow grease and the paint came right off.

More to the story. The husband of the gal I bought if from works for the local pest control company that I have spray my house monthly. Next time he goes around back to spray, he's gonna freak out when he sees what his old grill looks like...if I can get it cleaned up by then.

Even more astonishing than the $20 is the fact that it was sitting just across town...and all spring and summer I've been driving 2 to 3 hours to STL and KC to find grills.

Patience is the key.

Patience is the key.

This. I wanted a red SSP and missed one a month or two ago. Then 45 min from my house is where I picked one up that is damn near mint condition. Can't rush the hunt.
