ER Date Code Help anyone?
« on: September 19, 2016, 06:01:38 PM »
Help... I normally don't ask for help on restoring a basic grill but what the hell is this? Has anyone ever seen this before? All are perfectly spaced :o. My first thought was that someone was counting how many they cooked on it ::). But then I thought is this a manufacturing flaw? Has anyone any thoughts?  BTW this is on a Weber Master Touch 22 "ER" date code on lid and the paint went into the marks???

Look like great white shark teeth marks to me.  Maybe it started life originally as a channel buoy like George Stephen's original 1952 kettle.

Manufacturing flaw. It isn't a steel issue. For some reason, there was a wrinkle in the blank and when it was drawn there was a highlight on the steel, It doesn't necessarily show up until it's enameled.

Cooked on it 6 times and put away for a year and cooked 1 time after that.  This thing should be mint.
