Gas valve knob for Gen 2 Performer
« on: September 11, 2016, 01:30:49 PM »
My latest addition had a problem with the plastic gas valve knob - it would just spin on the valve stem and not turn gas on or off. I pulled it off and need a replacement.

The valve and regulator work fine - the gas assist fires right up. Just need something on the stem to make it easier to turn.

I don't believe Weber will sell me just the plastic knob. Any ideas for a replacement?

There was a post a year or so ago stating that a knob someone got from Radio Shack worked perfectly...

@Travis - I was pondering the same thing - finding a very small vise grips.

But thanks to the clue above, I found this thread, and found this part number on ebay. ETA Friday.

If Weber won't sell you just the knob, coat the brass with paste wax.
Fill the hole in the knob with some JB weld, press together.
Wait about half the cure tlme and seperate.
Let cure and file away excess.

Worked for me in similar situations.

Great idea @YardBurner. I have some various other broken knobs that I will try that on. Thanks.
