Thanks for the compliments everyone. For more on the backstory of this kettle, it was picked up originally by a member of the BBQ Brethren forums back in November of 2009. This kettle had been discussed a little back in the early days of WKC and also a little bit over at Virtual Weber Bullet prior to that. For me, personally this blue MBH kettle is a bit of a BBQ community legend.  When I first saw this kettle online at brethren in 2010 (my first year as a TVWB/Weber community member of any kind), it was love at first sight. Never dreamed it would be mine someday. So revisiting that backstory, checking myself in the proverbial mirror and my daughter all reminded me that it's too special for me to let go. The guy on Brethren picked it locally thinking it was an unused black kettle, turned out to be blue, and (at the time) 30 years old, now 37 y/o. Yes I kept the original box. Well here's the link to the original post from 2009.You'll see Present day WKC members  @swamprb , @Hell Fire Grill and @Harbormaster had all originally participated in that thread.

Let me know if the link doesn't work.

Glad you held on to it.  I would have kicked you in the Jimmy for selling.

I had to serve as character reference for you to get it.

I love that color. Have fun cooking on it.  I am envious of you for being able to do that. I know that is what it was meant for, but that one might fall into the " too nice to drive" category for me.

Whoa!  Total time warp.

That is the brightest blue I think I have ever seen.  Awesome kettle - glad you are holding on to it.

@craig, the last line in your post mentioned your grandfather's red 18.5, care to share some pics of that "family jewel"?
