Mod Month- Ranch Kettle drip tray
« on: September 09, 2016, 02:07:52 PM »
Here's my first entry for mod month, not as inspirational as OGlenn and Shoestringshop but practical and effective nonetheless. Anyone who cooks regularly on a ranch knows it's a PITA to clean the grease, fat and ash out of so this is my solution. It's also effective as a baffle
I love using this setup in my 22 and find it works well in the ranch as well

My 22 setup, my one touch blades are always grease free,

I traced the the charcoal grate onto some cardboard and squared it up where my poor mans charcoal basket would sit

Sorry no pics of fabrication, but it's made of 3mm aluminium with a 2 inch lip
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

That's awesome!  If you redid it in SS you could flip it over and place it on the cooking grate to use as a griddle.  I'm thinking you already have a griddle though so you probably don't need to do that.  You might look into contacting the SNS guys about producing this!

That is pretty spectacular. I use ash build up to catch all the fat. It's the grossest thing ever.

I like to think of this as insulation.

Great mod, super practical and effective!
