After thinking about it. This is not getting restored. It's going to get a good cleaning and that's it. It's too original to muck about with, and I'm liking the patina. Yeah, I'll clean some of the rustier bits, and respray with some Tremclad but this one needs to show its age gracefully.
After talking with the lady that sold it to me and learning the history behind the grill, it has earned respect. To restore, would remove that history.
I called her today asking about the other charcoal holder, as it only came with one. I told her I had cooked on it, and she was genuinely impressed. She told me that her dad would have been proud to see it fired up again.
