Pizza stone stains

Hi there.

Just been given this pizza stone and peel. The stone has some "character" to it. Is it possible to clean up the stone or is best to preserve the character. I noticed that the stone is quite coarse. Scrubing it might weaken the stone during heating cycles.

What do you all think?

yours looks brand new compared to mine, I just scrape anything off that may be stuck on and give it a little clean
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Ok then. Let's add some character to it.

Stains are normal.  Scrape off the crusties, and leave the rest alone.  The heat will kill anything on the stone and no on cares what it looks like when you are baking on it.  Stains will not impart off flavors.
