Just brought home a 06 Jumbo Joe. $40 craigslist.... Guy said he doesn't use charcoal much anymore and he was much happier with his Better Homes and Gardens propane grill I smiled and gave him forty bucks. Welcome home lil buddy.

Gave it a quick scraping inside with a razor blade some 4/0 steel wool and dawn dish soap.  Followed by a t bone and asparagus.

Nice score! That's a little more than I would pay for a JJ but I used to buy every one I could find on CL.
You're in Wisconsin, right? Whereabouts?
I've got Webers. 10 - WSMs, 5 - 22.5" kettles, 2 - 18.5" kettle, 2 - SJS, 2 - SJP, 4 - WGA, 1 vintage Coolie Pan

Forty bucks is a good price for a barely used jumbo joe. The problem is thats not a jumbo joe thats 14" of smokey joe gold, shoulda thrown twenty their way.

It's an 18 inch. Jumbo joe. I already have 2 smokeys. Just bad camera work. I was hungry and wanted a test cook.

Ahhh an SJP I stand corrected you did good for forty I've never seen one in person or the local CL, just the internet. Can anybody tell me if an SJP will fit the weber portable table?

Thanks. I never saw one in person either until I was handing a guy 40 bucks for this one. Going to give it the proper cleaning and polishing either late tonight or early tomorrow. 92° here with the humidity around  65%.

Won't fit. I had the same idea.

Aaaah, the beautiful 18" Outrider ... AKA:  Jumbo Joe, SJ Platinum.  I personally prefer Outrider.  Great little cooker.

Try some low 'n' slow with it (well, actually, not quite L'n'S ... More like Hot 'n' Fast).  Works great!

Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?

After a proper cleaning and polishing. Also swapped out the rusty screws and wingnuts for stainless ones.

Looking good, buddy. I'm having a hell of a time removing the rusted bolts and wingnuts from my recent JJ acquisition.   Besides elbow grease, what did you use to loosen them?

Juice from a T bone, pliers and a screwdriver. They really weren't to bad. I love pb blaster at work but not sure about the aftertaste in a grill. Could just grind the heads off. You are replacing them anyway.

That's a nice score. I love my JJs.
