Years ago I would not have looked at this twice when it appeared on Gumtree (Aussie Craigslist), but thanks to the info learned from WKC, I jumped on this.

@Hogsy informs me that these were quite expensive when released in Oz, and therefore very rare, to date I had never seen one before.

This is from the day I picked it up

It's been very well used, and I'm in the process of cleaning it up. Let's just say that it could be any color on the inside as there is a very thick layer of crud.

Some parts might need replacing

Stay tuned, updates to follow

a great score ! these redheads sure look good on 1st gen performers. I sometimes consider putting my redhead in my performer , but she's too pretty on her own. maybe one day. congrats!

Beautiful grill, and great score, especially in your neck of the world!

I've taken it apart for cleaning, but how does the charcoal bin lid come off the framework?

The bin lid is held in place by the metal bar. The bar will flex enough to pull it up from the edge of the table. Then you just have to finagle it loose from the frame at one end - flexing and pushing it toward the other end. I've done it several times and still don't find it easy - it usually takes me a minute. Watch to not lose the plastic inserts when the bar comes out.

while taking of the Ash sweep the thumb screw broke off.  I took my dremel tool and cut off the remaining bolt and just smacked it with a hammer (gently) and it popped off.  I used almost 2 cans of Easy Off to remove the remnants as well as the carbon build up (Nasty sauce and congealed fats)  in the bowl.  Put the new ash sweep with a new ash catcher and it went well from there.  ALOT of elbow grease but well worth the effort.

Good Luck with you restoration!

Jeff.
Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...

It didn't come with the gas cylinder, so I bought a new one and painted it. Also, the whitewalls as they were looking a bit shabby.

New ash bucket

New One Touch Cleaning System

Nice and clean!

It was very well used, and covered in grime previously. It took me days to clean up

The only spot that was like new was the underside of the lid, still had the plastic coating on it

Lovely color in the sunlight

Some Zavod bling

New thermometer

The vent was awful to clean, I think it still needs more work

I'd like to remove the decal to clean & repaint it, but can't figure out how. Any ideas?
